In the malls now there are all sorts of sales on jewelry for the holidays. You may want to look into Macy's, Sears, Marshalls, and Ross. For a friend, you may be finding in the twenty dollar price range. I would suggest trying Marshalls out or other places that all the time have gift items on sale. Sometimes if you buy a sure whole of makeup or jewelry somewhere, they will give you a free gift for your purchase and that is also nice to give as a holiday gift.
Don't forget to wrap your gift up nicely for that extra someone. Sometimes stores will do it for you, like the high end stores or branch stores. But if you shop at Marshalls or Ross you will have to buy your own gift bag or wrapping paper and do it yourself.
The holidays can be an spirited time of year to surprise your extra someone. And if you are getting engaged, you can't go wrong with a 1 carat or 3 carat solitaire ring. It is all about the presetation and element of surprise involved. Happy Holidays!
